Our GPS can be used by English speakers!
Although Japanese GPS's have been designed for use by Japanese speakers, they are suitable for use by English speakers.
The graphics on the maps remain in Japanese, but that does not effect your ability to be directed or to reach your destination.
Similarly, programming the GPS is in Japanese, but that is equally simple.
We have an instruction sheet in English for you, and recommend that you carry a print-out with you.
All you need is a list of the telephone numbers of your destinations.
You simply programme one of those into the GPS at beginning of each journey.
Our GPS's cover all roads in Japan, including toll roads and one-way streets.
They will find the way for you through the narrowest lanes in old cities and villages and find small ryokans or shops in back streets.
While you are travelling you can leave the GPS's chosen route and it will adjust to choose another route.
You can explore areas from where you are staying and then ask it to take you home.
Similarly you can use it to find tourist locations (temples, shrines, museums, parks, etc) by using the telephone numbers shown in tourist books.
BEFORE YOU DRIVE
Make sure that your Rental Company :
-- switch 'ON' the GPS
-- show you the programming procedure
so that you can follow these steps
Then do it yourself before you drive away
PROGRAMMING THE GPS
1. make sure the parking brake is 'ON'
2. start engine; map of present location appears on screen
3. programming your destinations following our manual
